John Bastable

Developer

John Bastable is an internationally acclaimed athlete and coach in combat sports with over 40 years’ experience. He is a sought-after coach in the combat arena and has also assisted Government Agencies in the development of operational safety training for general and specialist teams.

John is a Master / Sifu in Wing Chun and lived and trained in Hong Kong for a number of years. Johns holds a Cert IV and Diploma in sports coaching along with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment. In conjunction with the Linear International training team, John’s in-depth knowledge of the combat arts and long history of coaching these skills has led to the development of a defensive system that is easily learnt, is highly effective, judicially compliant and most importantly works under stress. These attributes are known internationally as a benchmark for effective training of officers to counter the threats encountered in an operational environment.

John successfully delivers the Linear defensive system to law enforcement and other agencies whose officers are routinely faced with the risk of violence in their occupational duties.

Jim Gilmour

Developer

Jim has 30 years’ experience in first responder roles for State and Federal law enforcement agencies. His work experience is diverse; with roles ranging from policing to counter terrorism to border control.

Jim has represented the Australian Government at international forums, delivered training for international partner agencies and has been a member of national law enforcement committees. He has provided evidence and guidance to the Federal Senate, Corners courts, High Courts as well as the Prime Minister and The National Security Committee of Cabinet.

Jim is a problem solver who is considered in his responses, he has a reputation for achieving results based on science not preference.

Darren North (BLP)

Developer

Throughout his career with Australian Federal Law Enforcement, Darren has been heavily involved in the design, development and delivery of solutions and strategies to combat occupational violence and enhance operational safety for first responders.

In his leadership roles, Darren was responsible for providing advice on policy, training and future strategy to the agencies Senior Executive. This advice was to ensure compliance with Ministerial direction and coronial recommendations on matters pertaining to use of force in a first responder operational environment.

Darren’s expertise has seen him nominated to head operational safety committees and working groups along with representing the Agency at forums and guest instructing on specialist training programs. Since leaving Government service.

Darren has been utilising his unique skillset to assist law enforcement, government agencies and corporations to develop scientifically based and judicially tested occupational violence prevention strategies and solutions for their unique working environment. Darren believes that all workers – regardless of industry – have the right to work safely without a fear of violence, assault, threats or aggression.

Nathan Andrews

Nathan Andrews possesses multi-domain operational experience that compliments his academic pursuits that focus on skill acquisition and the ability to achieve optimal learning outcomes in time compressed training environments.
